New Social Management Project: CMOC at School
For 2022, the Social Management area has taken several actions with the communities surrounding our operations. One of them is the CMOC at School project which will work with public schools in the municipalities of Catalão and Ouvidor. The project will work on topics such as the environment, sustainability and mining. Learn more about each stage of the project:
Hands on the Vegetable Garden – Planting Seeds for Environmental Education
Audience: students from the fifth grade
Duration: six months
This stage will work on the development of pedagogical actions with 9 and 10 year old students, where the work themes will be: water, recycling and composting. During the sessions, concepts such as teamwork, conscious consumption and environmental preservation will be discussed. The proposal aims to work with knowledge in an interdisciplinary way.
In the last phase, students will build a vegetable garden where they will plant vegetables.
Guardians of Water
Audience: teenagers from the 9th grade Duration: four months
For this group, the team will work on the Water theme. Three meetings will be held where topics such as the water crisis, preservation and recovery of springs, and the conscious use of water will be approached. At the end of the program, the students will be encouraged to participate in an essay contest in which they will be awarded prizes for the best writing on the theme Water Guardians.
To close the activities, the students will be invited to participate in the "Environmental Turnaround” program held in the cities of Catalão and Ouvidor, with the support of CMOC.
360° Mining
Audience: students from the 3rd year of high school Duration: nine months
The third work proposal will be carried out with high school students from the state schools of Catalão and Ouvidor. The goal is to broaden the knowledge about mining and its importance for socioeconomic development, as well as to arouse interest in the area and related topics.
Monthly meetings will be held with CMOC professionals who will present their areas of work and the importance of mining in the daily lives of the communities. At the end of the lecture cycle, students from Catalão will visit the Phosphates units in Ouvidor and Catalão. The Ouvidor students will visit the Niobium unit and the Boa Vista mine.
CMOC at School is a project carried out by the Social Management team in partnership with the Environment and is part of the CMOC Environmental Education Program. During the year, the employees will be able to follow the development of this project in the communication vehicles of the units.
